After a 40-year career as a communication professional, Stephen Newton began producing short films about Appalachian nonprofits that make a difference in their communities.

His award-winning 2014 feature length documentary about recidivism and over incarceration in the US, “Outcasts: Surviving the Culture of Rejection,” was aired on East Tennessee Public Television and screened at several film festivals.

He recently completed, “A Free Man,” part 2 of his “Dark As Night” trilogy of short narrative films shot on location in southwest Virginia and East Tennessee. “Dredd,” part 3 will start pre-production in summer of 2017.

He is currently in production on his second feature length documentary that explores the causes and consequences of homelessness in America ,”One Night in January: Counting the Cost of Homelessness.”

Paul Vanderbeck is a multiple award-winning composer and music producer. He is best known for the musical images he produced for hundreds of TV and radio clients, including the international award-winning jingle I Want My Baby Back, which was picked up by Chili’s and featured by Charles Osgood on CBS Sunday Morning in 2006 as one of the Top 10 jingles of all time. Vanderbeck has worked with many notable artists, including Johnny Cash, Melissa Manchester, Carole Bayer Sager, and Peter Allen. Most recently, he composed and produced the score for “Outcasts: Surviving the Culture of Rejection.”

Sergei Prokhnevskiy is a graduate of East Tennessee University and senior graphic designer for the Fox Sports Network in Charlotte, North Carolina. He has collaborated on several RAZAR films including The RCAM Story, We’re All About People, LiteFoods (2015 AAF Silver Award Winner), and Outcasts: Surviving the Culture of Rejection.
